| Opening of our veterinary clinic
July 2009 was a very special month for Animal SOS Sri Lanka with the opening of our veterinary clinic and 4 acre sanctuary for stray animals. This facility is unique in Sri Lanka and will be the lifeline for many otherwise doomed and neglected animals. A group of us from the charity was in Sri Lanka to celebrate this wonderful occasion. Kim Cooling, Morag Longmuir, Liz Stewart, Julie Whithey and June Brook. Val Stephenson, a supporter and volunteer, was also present along with Jo our veterinary nurse. It was an emotional time for those of us who over the last few years, have battled against such tremendous odds to save the lives of strays without a base, a safe haven and appropriate veterinary facilities. With the opening of our veterinary clinic and other facilities, strays now have the best chances of survival and with a base in Sri Lanka we can also conduct our other vital animal welfare projects. For the suffering strays of Sri Lanka, members of the charity and of course our wonderful supporters who have made this dream possible, this day in July is a very significant milestone. |
