Every animal who reaches Animal SOS Sri Lanka has a story. Some arrive injured, sick, neglected or traumatised, with little hope of survival. With veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, nutritious food and dedicated care, their lives can be transformed.
For some, recovery means returning to full health. For others, including animals with permanent disabilities, it means learning to live differently — safely, comfortably and surrounded by care.
Meet some of the remarkable animals whose lives have been changed.

CHARLOTTE
Charlotte arrived in April 2026, severely anaemic due to babesia. She had a painful wound on her back, was suffering from mange and was battling TVT (transmissible venereal tumour).
Three months later, the transformation is nothing short of remarkable. She is thriving, healthy, happy, and finally experiencing the love and care every dog deserves.

DINGLE
Dingle was the victim of a horrific boiling water attack. When he arrived at the sanctuary in March 2026, his injuries were devastating and life-threatening. He also had dangerous tick-borne diseases, which had left him dangerously weak and severely anaemic. With intensive treatment, patience, and unwavering care, we saved his life.
Today, he is a beautiful, gentle, and incredibly grateful boy.

BOBBIE
Bobbie arived in July 2023. She was suffering from a horrific, flyblown TVT (cancer) affecting her eye and genitals. She also had babesiosis, which had caused severe anaemia.
With treatment, care, and an incredible will to live, she survived.

CHUTY
Chuty arrived in December 2025 in a critical condition. Disabled, covered in wounds, unable to urinate, and fighting for his life. His future looked uncertain, but we refused to give up on him.
Today he is walking again, is healthy and enjoying the life that once seemed impossible.

HENRY
Henry arrived in March 2026 after suffering a devastating brain injury when he was hit on the head. He was screaming in pain, circling constantly, and fighting for his life. As if that wasn't enough, he was also carrying parvovirus. We pulled him through.
Today Henry is thriving because you cared.

MAGINTO
Maginto arrived at our sanctuary in August 2023 barely clinging to life. His jaw was shattered after consuming baited food - Hakka Patas, a cruel man-made explosive hidden in food that detonates when an animal bites into it. He was nothing but skin and bones, unable to eat, and in terrible pain. A failed jaw surgery attempted elsewhere, only worsened his suffering. Most would have given up on him, but not us, and now you can see why.
Today, Maginto is a healthy, happy, and rather chubby boy. He devours his meals with gusto and lives every day as a testament to resilience and the power of second chances. Sadly, Maginto’s story is not unique. We see many victims of Hakka Patas-innocent animals torn apart by man’s inhumanity, and have many survivors at the sanctuary.
