We would love to welcome you to our sanctuary at Puwakwatta, Kongashena, Midigama, Ahangama, Sri Lanka.
We offer one sanctuary tour each day at 10:30am, except Sundays. As we are a working animal sanctuary, the needs of the animals must always come first and occasionally we may need to cancel a tour at short notice. We appreciate your understanding.
There is no charge to visit the sanctuary, although donations to help care for our dogs and cats are always greatly appreciated. If you would like to bring something for the animals, we are particularly grateful for dried dog or cat food, large bags of rice and tinned food. We prepare over a tonne of food every day, so these donations are a great help.
The nearest train station and bus stop are in Ahangama. From there, it is a short tuk-tuk ride to the sanctuary – just ask for “The Dog House”.
Please wear comfortable, practical clothing and footwear suitable for a working animal sanctuary and bring any food or drinks you may need, as these are not available on site.

We are incredibly grateful to the compassionate individuals who support our work at the sanctuary. Caring for over 2,247 rescued dogs and 17 cats is a daily commitment, and every helping hand makes a meaningful difference.
