Meet Tota 🧡

I was born at Hambantota Port in 2021 and I am a Short Spine Syndrome dog. My genetic condition is very rare and my chances of surviving life as a stray dog in Sri Lanka were slim. My legs are deformed, I walk in a funny way, I have no neck and some muscle wastage. I was also covered in ticks and had a dangerous blood disease called Babesia gibsoni.

I had almost given up on life as the odds were against me, but I was then rescued by Animal SOS Sri Lanka. They saved me, they nursed me through tick fever and most important of all, they love me just as I am.

I have lived happily at the sanctuary ever since. I have beautiful soft beds and toys that I love ripping up. I love romping in the garden and despite my size, have the loudest voice at the sanctuary.

I am a survivor. I am hugely loved and I was given a second chance. I will be forever grateful for that.
